How HomeShield Works
HomeShield by NorthStar is a proactive membership. We document your property before the storm, support you when weather hits, and keep you prepared year after year.
Annual Property Health Inspection
A licensed inspector reviews your roof and exterior, documents conditions, and identifies risk areas like hail exposure, ice dams, and water entry points.
Pre-Loss Documentation & Vault
Photos, videos, and your written Health Report are stored in your secure HomeShield Vault, ready to support you if a storm or loss occurs.
Storm Event Support
When weather hits, members receive priority inspections, updated documentation, and guidance on opening a claim—without HomeShield acting as a public adjuster.
What’s Included
Every membership is built around three pillars: documentation, protection, and preparation.
Documentation
High-quality photos and videos of your roof and exterior, written findings, and annual Health Reports that can be shared with your contractor, realtor, or insurance company.
Protection
Risk scoring for hail, wind, ice dams, gutters, and drainage so you know where your property is vulnerable, plus practical recommendations to reduce the chance of future loss.
Preparation
Seasonal checklists, storm alerts, and clear next steps for what to do if you suspect damage—so you’re never guessing when it matters most.
Monthly vs Annual Pricing
Choose the billing option that works best for your home. Monthly keeps things flexible. Annual gives you the best value — and for a limited time, we’re waiving the onboarding fee for new residential annual members.

HomeShield & Your Insurance
HomeShield is designed to support you as a property owner while respecting the legal boundaries between inspections, documentation, and claim adjusting.
HomeShield by NorthStar is not a public adjusting service.
Membership focuses on inspections, documentation, and education. If you pursue a claim, we help you understand your documentation and how to open a claim—but we do not negotiate on your behalf or take a percentage of your claim.
That separation allows HomeShield to operate as a proactive property-risk program while NorthStar continues to provide independent adjusting and consulting services where appropriate and permitted.
Do you work for my insurance company?
No. HomeShield is a property-owner-focused program created by NorthStar Claims Consulting. Our inspections and reports are for you. You can choose to share them with your carrier, contractor, realtor, or other professionals as you see fit.
Will HomeShield handle my claim?
HomeShield does not adjust, negotiate, or settle claims. If you pursue a claim, we can help you understand what is documented, what photos show, and what questions to ask, so you enter the process prepared.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. Memberships can be cancelled with written notice according to the terms of your service agreement. We recommend staying active through at least one full annual cycle to receive the full value of your Health Report and seasonal monitoring.
